Staying Young

From Gjeelea

In this picture are my sister (in yellow) and her friend (in red). They had a girl’s night over my house and did all the girly things that 12 year olds do. They painted their nails, did their hair, tried on clothes and right before bed decided to apply a face mask. Normally a face mask is supposed to make the appearance of your face look wrinkle free, not oily and fresh looking. These girls are only 12 and definitely do not have wrinkles. Why they apply this mask on at a young age just shows how much of an affect society has on little girls, who are even barely teenagers. They have the need to feel young even though they haven’t even hit puberty. I used their shirts to brighten up their environment. They are young vibrant girls and that’s how they and society should see them. The background is dark because it gives the negative appearance that society portrays. Without society they wouldn’t need to feel as if they are getting older and need products to look younger. Pretty soon these girls are going to get plastic surgery by the time they are of legal age.

This picture is very interesting. It shows you how little girls are already worried about their skin when they have not even gone through puberty. All girls have there fun doing "girly" things with their girlfriends for sleepovers. This picture just really shows there faces being hidden when they should be able to stand out.

This picture is typicall when it comes to young girls. It shows how girls are already worried about their skin at a young age. They may not even know what the stuff is that their putting on their face, but the fact is that they have probably seen their mom or older girls put this mask on. Even though these girls might not know what it means they still do it because its what they have seen before and young girls look up to teenagers and their parents therefore they think that its the "cool" thing to do.

This picture is different. I thought little girls weren't ready to have to use a mask at such a young age. It goes to show you beauty is a big part of how a girl needs to look in society today. They are already worried about what they look like. I think that girls don't need to worry about what they look like but apparently at that age they already do.

I like this photo because it not only demonstrates the tasks that comes along with being a young female, but it also brings up the fact that women are only considered beautiful if they are young. flawless skin, no wrinkles or any blemish is the building blocks of beauty, and its a "look" that women strive for. the fact that these girls are so young and all ready worried about the condition of their skin is surprising, it means that some woman has had to show them and teach them the ways of beauty.

The young girls in this photograph having a sleepover find it necessary to do all the stereotypical girly things. I think its ironic that they have face masks on when they probably do not need them because 12 year olds usually do not have the skin problems that older people have such as really oily skin and wrinkles. They probably think activities such as these are what they are supposed to be doing at sleepovers because of what they see on tv and in the movies.

This picture is very intriguing; it shows how girls are trained to better their appearance before they even hit puberty. And what even worse is that they are planning for wrinkles before they even reach eighteen. Our society has socialized to think that we always need to be perfect and looking old is a terrible thing.

This is another perfect example of how young girls look up to those they see on TV. The girls in this picture are covered in anti-wrinkle cream when they clearly don’t need it. They probably aren’t using it for wrinkles, but just because they’ve seen other girls with this product. Young girls are constantly trying new things they learn so they can feel older. I also like the usage of different colors showing the negativity of media and the happiness and innocence of the girls.

This picture example of the growing issue of girls growing up too soon. Girls are not even fully developed a the age of 12 and shouldn't be worrying about their appearance. I think girls are starting to focus too much on their physical appearances at a young age that they sometimes forget just how young they really are.

This photo is nice to me because i believe girls do this because they see it on T.V. or a relitive they know does it. Because they are too young to be trying to look younger. So its nice to me!

the girls are most likely just putting the mask on because it is what they see on tv. a lot of girls at young ages mock what they see on tv. now if they did this on their own free will instead of telling them to put on the mask the parents would probably think nothing of it because they are just being girls. i know my mother did not care if i put a mask on when i was little. I saw her doing it so i did it to. i was mainly just trying to be like my mom
