Anytime Anywhere
From: Donya
Imagine living in a society where having a perfect body image and always looking like those supermodels on the cover of Vogue was a requirement in order for a teenage girl to fit in. No need to imagine because it's this 17 year old's reality. In today's society teen girls are pressured into always looking top model perfect. The media and surrounding factors pressure a teenage girl to look perfect no matter what with all the activities involved in teen's lives. Sometimes it's hectic and there isn't enough time for extensive "personal grooming" to perfection. In the picture, there is a lot of makeup products of every brand and lots of fashion magazines there. This picture's deep meaning is, in this case no matter where she is, she has to look perfect. While she is driving she is attempting to keep one side of her hair perfect with a huge bottle of hairspray. She is also trying to put on eye makeup such as eye shadow and mascara while still managing to control the wheel of the car. By looking at the photo, you can see that she is very tense and not focusing on driving but merely on her appearance. This picture shows an example of how the media has such a major affect on the way teens use makeup to look & feel "beautiful."

This picture really captures the extent that young females go through to capture beauty. Clearly she’s in the car meaning she doesn’t care where she is she needs to look her best. The car could also express the danger that she could put herself in if she were to drive and apply her mascara. It’s also broad daylight in the background that may express her need to be seen by everyone around her. Her posture of her lying back in the seat, with her feet up of the car while applying that beauty product shows her comfort of trying to be beautiful. She clearly rather be “beautiful” than worrying about her safety. The fact that she’s still trying to maintain the car while applying her makeup shows that she thinks she’s in control but all along she dangering herself which can also state that while she’s trying to maintain her image she’s only hurting herself by doing so.
Although I think this picture is slightly exaggerated, I do agree with the over all point. Unfortunately, many girls do endanger themselves by applying makeup and accessories in the car, while risking causing an accident. It is obvious that this girl is not driving, because both of her feet are crossed on the dashboard, however it still does display the eagerness girls have today to always look good, no matter where they are. It is ridiculous to me that girls now feel as if they have to keep up with an always done up apearance. I think everyone deserves to feel comfortable in their own skin, and should not have to act in that manor if they do not want to. Overall, I think this photo is accurate and i enjoyed it.
This picture really shows the trouble girls go through for beauty. How girls feel the need to always dress to impress. The car to me represents danger. Not only if she would be driving but how it has become a necessity to always look your best, no matter where you are. It shows how girls, getting younger, will go far lengths just to feel beautiful. Also, the daytime represents attention. She wants everyone to see her and look at her; when she is complete, she feels confident. She is most likely sitting in a parking lot doing her toes, make-up and hair. All the cosmetics and the magazines represent society’s sense of the word “beauty”. Because of the media she is not comfortable just being herself. They have told her which mascara will make her eyelashes the longest and not smear, which hairspray will keep her hair in contact all night and most importantly how to keep a very petite body. Overall this picture shows how much of an effect the media has over how to make women beautiful.
I think this photo is a perfect idea of what young adolecent females are noticed doing. Its unfortunate, young girls driving, attempts to put on makeup, as well as talking on cellphone all while driving. This photo is taken in the perfect angle because it shows the car, and all the items inside as well as the driver and showing what she is doing. It has a perfect coloring to the picture and shows nothing but great detail. It goes to show that no matter how old, wherever you are, you can always put on make up to "fit in, and look cool"
I think the picture gives a good visual of how obsessed teenagers really are with fashion and make-up, that it must be everywhere they are. The girl wants to be beautiful so bad that she has brought her cosmetics with her in the car and covered the whole dash board with them. The car also express that she is putting her self in danger by doing this in her car which can symbolize the danger that comes with how society wants its teenage girls to look. She is more worried about beauty that actually driving. The picture also show that beauty is in control of the girl and the car. The picture is also a common photo we see on a regular basis in life. How many times have you seen a girl applying make-up look in the rear view mirror instead of having her eyes on the road.
This photo shows how girls try to look good no matter where they are gong or what they are dong. Girls think they have to always look good whether they are just going to the grocery store or out with their friends.
Being beautiful is so important to women that they will go about putting their look together anywhere. Even in the car. Women have this idea that they cannot go out in public without having make up on. They want the public to view them as being beautiful and have products in order to make themselves feel good about themselves.
It is interesting that she is "driving" with no feet. But, that could just show how, along with the confusion of doing so many things at once, and the mess on her dash board, she really has no control over herself and her actions but that the media and society has control over her. Like you said, being in the car shows how time consuming trying to be "beautiful" all of the time can be. I think that is important to mention because during adolescence, girls develop superficial priorities that take away from themselves and their own development of themselves.
What lengths will any of us go through to be beautiful? How many products, how much time will people spend? This picture says, "All dolled up and no where to go". The girl is spending so much time on her appearance, she isn't driving anywhere to do anything.
I find this very angering, especially when I'm the person driving behind them or in front of them. I don't want to be the destruction of their folly! I don't even wear makeup so I have nothing to worry about. I just think they're too lazy to wake up early enough to put on their makeup BEFORE they leave the house. Second, I find this very scary, because this obviously shows they care about their looks, more then they care about their lives. I see women multitasking like this all of the time, and its pathetic.
The fact her face is showing in this picture, shows how she represents all girls in the world. The fact that she has pictures of models and celebrities, shows how she has been influenced by the society.
This is a really good picture as we can clearly see the extent young girls can really go! Here, the car is captured in a very closed way and this resembles a box in which a girl is trapped. She does not want to go out of the box as in the box she has all the fake image of beauty. We can see that the beauty products appear bigger than the steering wheel, which signifies that she has no care for her safety. She is ready to go any extent just to appear beautiful and fit in the society. Steering wheel helps us drive a car and when that wheel is given little importance compared to all the those beauty products, she definitely is ready to put her life on danger. This is the real attitude young girls have which is very dangerous.
