I choose a 16 year old to act like she was throwing up what she just ate. Young teen girls all around the world choose bulimia as a way to change themselves. The reason they want to change is to be skinnier and look like older girls on covers of magazines etc, or they just want to fit in at school. This is one way teen girls think they are growing up by striving to look older and sexier.
The main point I want people to notice is Cameren throwing up what she just ate, so I made her the largest object in the picture. I also put the picture in black and white so her black shirt would take up the most space in the picture and make viewers automatically focus on her. I placed some cookies right next to her to look like that's what she was about to throw up. The next thing I wanted to stand out was the scale and mouth wash on the floor. So it looked like she was prepared and had already done this many times before. The last main object I wanted to stand out was the super skinny model pictures she taped to the back of the toilet seat, as if that's who she strived to look like. There are at least a handful of girl's in almost all high schools that choose bulimia as a way out. When you first look at this picture I want it to be shocking.
That's because bulimia is shocking and a crazy thing to do to one's self. Yet so many young teens choose this way just to fit in with the popular crowd. Since a lot of young teen girls throw up, it makes it very easy to think it is okay to do. Which is why I made the title But every girl does it.

Bulimia is an Illness, I had a very good friend of mine have Bulimia in school. We were a class of 120 kids and out of that there were only 2 cases so it really is not the norm. It is a terrible thing to have happen to anyone though.
I stand corrected, I wanted to see what the statistics were on Bulimia here in the United States. It appears that it is 1 in every 4 females will have this illness. What a shame!!I failed to mention that I am not from America.
Connecting all of the images in the background of this photo really connects with the fact that bulimia is a major issue for young girls. The scale, the pictures on the seat cover and all of the bracelets this girl is wearing obviously strives for the attention and drive to be considered a "good looking" female.
I think this photo is powerful. I think it displays the pain that many girls feel, and the action that even more girls partake in to supress that pain and dissatisfaction. I think many girls can relate to this photo, because wether they have done this to their bodies or not, many girls are unsatisfied with themselves physically and have thought about doing it. I think the scale and photos on the toilet lid are important becasuse it shows how serious and dedicated she is to achieving her "goal" no matter how dangerous it may be. I also agree that the mouth wash symbolizes her preparation and how routine the action is to her. It is unfortunate that so many girls deal with this illness.
This photo was one of my favorite. Bulimia is a disease that many people have to deal with yearly. This photo was very thought out with all the different aspects. The pictures taped on the toilet show that the girl is not going to give up until she reaches her goal or until she reaches what she thinks is a ideal weight. The fact that she has the mouthwash and scale there show that she obviously has done it before and she knows what she has to do when she's done. I really like how the person who took the picture put it in black and white so that her shirt which is black was more noticeable.Bulimia is such a horrible disease that we have to take more seriously. And if you know someone who has it, you should take steps to get the person help.
This blog photo is amazing! This picture has a meaning behind it that is very powerful and disturbing. I love that the photo was taken in black and white format. This format of black and white, allows the meaning of this photo to be seen without any distractions of color. I noticed how the girl is positioned with a magazine in front of her while she is in the position of bingeing. What this photo is telling me is that this girl will stop at nothing to obtain the “American Girl” image. I also like how the props in the photo were positioned it allowed me to focus on the girl but also showed me other factors of the meaning in this photo in a subtle way. The props are very important things when it comes to teenage girls trying to obtain the “American Girl” image; for example: the scale to probably weigh her self after bingeing, the listerine to help cover the smell of her disorder, and lastly the magazine that probably keeps her attention on why she is going to this extreme of hurting herself mentally and physically. Clearly this girl is influenced by the media to look a certain why and thinks it’s normal because her peers are also doing extreme things to obtain this media image.
its true girls do stupid things for stupid reasons. if someone tells them there fat or are you gaining weight. that sets a girl off because we believe in first impression.
This shows that girls will go to unhealthy lengths in order to obtain the look that they want. They want to be thin because thats what they believe is beautiful. Bulimia is something that many girls try in order to lose wait and look good but it is a very danger disease.
