I think that my picture clearly supports the idea the gender socialization starts early. This is a two and four year old little
girl. One has on all purple and the other a snow white costume. Their parents have bought them “feminine” gender labeled toys and outfits. I chose to take the picture from angle to emphasize the background. She has girlie butterflies on her walls and girlie dresses hanging up. My main focus point was Riley the little girl in the snow white costume. I also wanted you to see the baby dolls and bears on the shelf up top. I wanted the picture to tell the story of little girls. I think this picture is a demonstration on how parents push their children to fit the ideal mold for boys and girls. There is no boy like toys in this room at all. This picture not only represents gender labels as social demands but also learning adult roles. As you can Riley is leaning on a play kitchen set and jaylin is holding a vacuum cleaner. These toys are preparing these children for later adult roles.

I think this picture is a perfect example of gender sterotyping. Both of the young girls clearly show the "princess" role. Everything in the room just tells the story. From the butterfiles on the walls to the dresses hanging up. There is absolutley nothing manly about this room so you can tell that the parents want the girls to act feminine. This picture also shows how gender sterotyping is starting younger and younger.

This picture shows imagination, a little girl wanting to dress up as a princess and what is so wrong about that? She couldn't be any more than 5 and she looks happy.

This picture shows how girls are influenced by the media even at a very young age. At this point in their lives they are so young and having fun like little girls do, but trying to be like a princess or a celebirty in the media when girls grow up can be more overwhelming than fun. Ofcourse they are yoing girls who have a imagination but they wear the dresses beacause they see the princesses in the Disney movies.

I agree that gender socialization starts early even when it is not intended it. For instance parents pay not be aware of how their parenting may be impacting how their child feels about his/her gender.
