Being only seven years old, she understand the concept of being a princess. In her head, she believes that wearing the pretty clothes, having the girly items, and putting on the makeup will make her beautiful. Yet she doesn't understand that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The way the picture is set up is the little girl looking at herself, applying makeup, and dressed up to make herself look better. The mirror in the background has the crown on top, so that the childs mother is putting the image in her head that she is a princess, while I have no doubt that she isn't a sweet girl, when people get the idea in their head that they are something, they become that same thing. She smiles to show she is happy with herself, with her outfit, and with the fact that she is able to put makeup on. The value contrast of the photograph is bright and vibrant to help enforce the idea of her happiness. It also shows her youth and immaturity. The angle that I took this photograph is from behind so I can show that she is looking at herself, and how she views the idea of beauty in her head.

The little girl captures the photographers theme well. The photographer probably had the idea to portray that young girls normally mimic older woman. Gender roles can be seen through the expression of the girl. Normally, a girl the age of seven would rather be a princess, than a warrior or hero. Innocence is the key to this photograph. This child, most likely, has no idea that the true idea of beauty is to be natural. The young girl would rather follow what she sees than to speculate. She is unconsciously, or not, happy because she is catching on to what she admires. She may not even grasp the concept that she is copying anyone. This child symbolizes that adolescence are essentially unable to observe their own gender driven behaviors.
Yeah, the little girl is way to young to be getting into mimicing the older women. I babysit girls that younger than 7 and their into the makeup hair and clothes. its crazy.
These young girls see girls who are glamorous in advertisements and begin to act just as these girls do that they see on tv. These little girls start wering make up and dressing up in ways that only adults should wear. This is because girls see these beautiful woman and look up to them and want to be just like them.
