This is a photograph of my ten year old sister wearing a pore cleansing mask just like our mom. I found this to be a perfect illustration of how we become gendered through following the examples of our parents. When setting up this photograph I used space, color, and balance to emphasize the lack of conscious decision we have in the way that we are taught to become young men and women. As you can see, there is not much space around my sister. She is almost forced into the little area that she occupies. This is meant to symbolize the seemingly insignificant, but surprisingly strict gender roles to which we are expected to adhere. The products are a symbol of ultimate femininity and display the most color in this photograph. They demand the viewer's attention. This is similar to the positive reinforcement young girls receive when they behave in a way that is stereotypically feminine. Furthermore, the products occupy most of the space in the photograph emphasizing the importance of femininity to young girls. When children behave in a way that conforms to their gender they are rewarded with the approval of their peers and positive feedback from role models. On the whole, this photograph is not meant to criticize the existing role of femininity in our society. It is simply meant to reveal one way that we unconsciously teach our children to become model adults.

This picture showed a great example of a girl trying to fit in with others but shes trapped in a box. It looks as if she wanted to try and be what society thinks is good. She has tons and tons of products behind her and its up high while she sits down low with that look on her face and it looks like she feels this is what she has to do in order to feel like her mother.
Something that stood out to me that it looks like that is all of her mothers women products due to the fact that her pajamas repersent her being young. The way the angle is taken it makes her look like she is hidding in a corner and scared to be caught by her mother with the facial mask on because she is young and shouldnt be interested in these things yet.
This picture shows what young girls go through to look beautiful and be able to fit in, in the society. She has to use all those products just to look beautiful.
