The Impossible‏

From: Casey
In then photo it shows how the women seem to really care about body image. It seems most teenagers care more about what they look like because of all the stars in Hollywood. If you look you can see a picture of Megan Fox upon the computer. Showing that people strive to be the same size as her and look as if thery're perfect. But even in the pictures, it lies. They photoshop most of them, making people try and acheive the impossible. The measuring tape around her stomach and scale by her side show that she wants to be skinner. That women have to turn to hurting themselves only to be aqccepted. As you can tell you can't see her face in this photo. That symbolizes how she doesn't want the world to see her, unless she looks the way she is uppose too. So because of the public, girls try and put there body through hell in order to get the best body image.

I think this photo really illustrates how much the media effects girls today. I agree with what you said about celebrities being overly photo shopped and airbrushed, and I don’t think most young girls realize that. The media has this false representation of what’s deemed beautiful or attractive, which is usually wearing make-up and having a small waist. This results in young girls feeling insecure about their bodies, and more likely to buy more beauty products, and diet aids. It also leads to more eating disorders, when people stress about their figure. I believe the girl in this photograph represents anyone who’s been exposed and influenced by the media and felt like they needed to strive to look a certain way. The laptop displaying a picture of Megan Fox is a good addition because it shows how much the girl desires to look like her. The measuring tape around her stomach, the scale, and the pillow covering her face can also illustrate how stressed she is to be pressured into looking “perfect”.

The picture, “The Impossible” shows how today society is and media are putting too much unrealistic pressure on young girls to look a certain way. You’ll notice how the girl is sprawled out on the bed exhausted because she was working way too hard on the unrealistic goal to look like the girl on the computer. The girl on the computer represents the Medias portal on what is “beautiful”. She has a scale and a stop watch to show how she is working out so hard to reach a weight that probably isn’t realistic to her body type. Over all, this picture depicts Medias influence on the youth, specifically young girls, today.

Its crazy the effect that media can have on young girls these days. This picture definitely shows the struggle that a lot of young girls are faced with. They idolize these celebrities and aspire to be just like them and often go through dangerous measures just to TRY and look like them. Its sad to see how the media takes advantage of fragile young girls.

I think this photo replicates the exhaustion women experience when trying to reach the impossible. The fact that everything is placed on the bed signifies her fatigue in trying to make herself into what someone is incapable of. The pillow covering her faces definitely connotes her shame of her unattainable goal, but the resting of her body on the bed refusing to be weighed or measured at that single moment provides a reassurance to the viewer, or myself that she is still in there somewhere and Megan Fox is on the laptop screen.

This photo is very disturbing on many levels. It is sad to imaging that girls feel the need to go to such extremes to be socially accepted. The media has a major influence on these young girls trying t achieve something that isusually unacheievable.

This photo reminds me a lot of my photo. Young girls are constantly trying to imitate the bodies of unrealistically and extremely slender female models. They look up to these girls because they're famous and have "perfect bodies" according to what our society says. But in reality, some of these women's bodies may be extremely unhealthy due to the circumstances they undergo in order to stay that slender. The scale and picture on the lap top show how this girl cannot take it any longer. The pillow over her head could mean that she's disgusted with herself for not being this slender, and that she wants to hide herself from people around her, or it could mean that she if physically withdrawn and exhausted from the struggles she goes through to stay this thin.

I think that this is a great photo. Because many girls to strive to be like the movie stars. But just as the author explains, the stars are photoshopped and they really dont look that perfect. if you saw them without their makeup on they probably arent even that pretty. Also, they have money to spend on a personal trainer and chef to make sure that they eat healthy and continue to loose weight, or maintain the weight they are at. I think celebrity photos can be very dangerous to teenagers and young adults, because that causes them to think that is what they should look like, and it causes health and eating problems.

This picture definitely represents what women go through to compete with the women in the media. Every young women has tried to compare themselves to girls they see in magazines, movies, or television. But the media has created such an unrealistic idea of beauty that it is nearly impossible to achieve.
