I choose this photo because it represents what most of my
teenage years were all about which was trying to look like what I saw in
magazines. In one of the homework
assignments the class had to read a section called “Beauty is a Beast.” When I was teenager most of the girls in my
class were wearing makeup in the 7th and 8th grade and I always felt pressure
to fit in so I started wearing makeup as well. I choose this topic because society puts so much pressure on
what the outside looks like and not on the important things like your character
and how you conduct yourself. Even as adult some may still feel pressure to fit
in because of what they see in magazines and what surveys say that men find “attractive.” I feel that if girls had more positive images
of women and learned about more positive women that what they see in magazines
wouldn't even matter at all.

In this picture, the magazines symbolize what most women look to, and also feel pressured to look at to see what's out, and what in that's new in fashion. Magazines pressure most of women to do things they might not have thought of before seeing them in magazines. They show views of how women should be to look better. Even though some women may look better without make up, society views that make up and showing skin makes women "sexier" and more "beautiful" to the point where teenagers feel very unconfident about themselves if they have acne, and tend to look at magazines to find a way to cover up and look better.
