Beauty is a real beast when it comes to affecting girl’s self-worth. The photograph shows some of the things a female would feel about themselves myself, including me. Just because one doesn’t possess the ideal of a beautiful girl. Women especially young women see all the wrong things with their appearance and strive to fix it because the media and society says they need too in order to attract a man. This kind of thinking is a real blow to one’s self-esteem. I did not get these ideas from nowhere. They have been taught to me and every girl growing up either directly or indirectly. The importance of beauty for a female. Looks. “Barbie, the perennial role model for girls, is proportioned so that that her figure is unattainable; the probability of having her figure is only 1 and 100,000.” (240) But that doesn’t stop young girls from trying to achieve the Barbie look. Young girls define what beauty is based upon magazines, models, movies, and celebrities. And can lead to young girls becoming anorexia, bulimia, or depressed. The photograph just touches a few topics of beauty that is a beast. Girls are concern with not just their make-up, hair, and weight but also with what clothes they wear, shoes, bra size, and acne. The list goes on and on. The realty is society is ugly not females. Society needs to change its looks not girls.

Julia I agree with everything! Society is constantly changing and with it so is the social media, trying to attract a younger and younger audience every year. What the social media doesn’t understand is that it’s not just the products they are trying to sell it’s mainly the women and how their body looks. It’s a very dangerous situation all around because since they are trying to attract a younger audience girls are striving for different ways just to look like these models. It’s hard being raised in a society where all people care about is looks and how beautiful you are. Whatever happened to personality? Many men don’t even care to get to know you all they care about is your body and how “hot” you look just to hook up with you. It kills a girl’s confidence, self-esteem, and worth. It’s not just about looks but right now that’s the only thing important in society.
