The Odd One Out

From: Kafi
The circle is a symbol of equality, with no points and no head for anyone to be above or superior to anyone. Thanks why I choose the circle to surround my subject. A circle of male protagonist characters to surround the subject's and are on equal footing in the eyes of the subject. I wanted the subject to remain faceless because I believe that it doesn't matter whether the subject is male or female. When girls and boys are being brought up in our society, they have role models and the video games in the circle and in the subject’s hands are met to serve as role models in the video games. I choose video games because it's a popular form media for both girls and boys. Video games are often associated with childhood and with heroes.
The reason that the only game in his hands is a female protagonist game is because I want her to be a symbol of scrutiny. It’s another reason I wanted to leave the subject faceless and sexless because female character are under scrutiny by both girls and boys. The female protagonist is not in the circle because she is seen as the odd on out. She is obviously not like the guys in the circle. She is can be seen as a role model for girls but also as a cautionary tale since she is seen as being dirty and dangerous. She’s the only one in the circle because she is the only one of many characters but she is the one of the few females. While she is strong and self-reliant, she is one of the few. Showing that there very little representation of positive female protagonist in video games. In childhood representation is everything for potential role models. Being above the male characters also gives her more power. Being under constant scrutiny, she’s in the eye of her observers. She is important because she is the odd one out.
