When I was walking around Giant taking pictures i saw many things that would be considered "boyish" or "girly" because of what color they were. The thing that caught my attention the most was this Orioles shirt. I found it very interesting what colors they choose for the shirt. Mostly everyone that lives in Maryland knows that the Orioles team colors are black, and orange and not brown, and pink. I guess
whoever made the shirt decided that they should have "girly colors" since it was a girls shirt. To me it seems kin dove silly to have a shirt for a team without their team colors on it. If it was a mens shirt you know that they would deffinitly put black and orange on there and they would never sell a pink and brown shirt for men. I guess it just comes to show how strongly people feel that pink is a girls color.

To me this picture greatly shows how big companies don't really care about the product they’re selling, or what they are advertising in their clothing or toys, in this case a shirt that is supposed to be promoting the Baltimore Orioles. This company obviously felt as if more shirts would be sold if it was cute, or “something a girl would want to buy”, where usually the large percent of promotional clothing for sports teams bought, is bought by men. They must think that by making it “girly” colors and surrendering the real team colors they can widen their buyers, which is honestly true because of today’s society, and women thinking more about how they look, than being loyal to a team that they support.
As I was skimming across the blog to find a picture to comment on, this one immediately caught my eye. I am a huge sports fan and this is, actually, really annoying to me. It doesn’t make any sense to create a shirt, or jersey, or anything in support of a sports team without the team’s colors. A company that sells clothing for a sports team that doesn’t incorporate that team’s colors into the item is making the statement, though not intentionally, that it is only acceptable for a girl or woman to wear gender-stereotyped colors. I feel like it is an effort to compensate for the fact that a girl or woman is supporting a sport.
I really like this picture because I totally agree that this was made to target girls that are O's fans because the colors have changed from the black and orange to pink and brown. This just goes to show how society forces gender on everything even clothing. If you are a fan of the O's you would be proud to wear black and orange whether you are a boy or a girl. The funny thing is that most people buy these items to support a the team and like theresa says its silly to have a team shirt without the teams colors just because its a so called girls shirt.
I hate it when i see things like this! everytime I'm looking at anything having to do with football the sales rep always points out certain things that are for girls. If i wanted to have a pink shirt i would've went to another store. It almost makes the statement that girls arent allowed to be apart of the sport. so they use different colors so you're not wearing the teams colors. I mean they wouldnt change the color of the flag to have pink in it because those colors signify something. Same concept applys to sports. those teams colors stand for that team and what they are made of changing the colors doesnt represent the same thing. it's taking something away from it.
