From: Tyler In my photo, I decided to use younger children to portray the image of "The Glass Slipper Effect". The children in the picture are elementary school students, five and seven years old. The little girl hand is on her forehead to symbolize how she is excited for the little boy to save her. They decided to wear these costumes for two reasons, they like the way they look and to portray that the little girl needs to be saved (princess dress and glass slipper) and the little boy needs to save her (his cape). The idea of The Glass Slipper Effect is, that women who look at men as romantic heroes who will rescue them. The Glass Slipper Effect was created by Rudman and Heppen who used the Implicit Association Test which concluded to their Glass Slipper Effect. Women who believe in the Glass Slipper Effect also believe that when their "prince charming" comes and save them, it is now time for them to put all of their goals and achievements on the backburner. My photo shows the beginning stage of The Glass SlipperEffect, and is just covering the surface of what really happens.

There is nothing cuter than kids playing dress-up, but this photo to me proves that even at 5 and 7, the little girl, as do others, is going to possibly grow up thinking that she is helpless and meaningless unless there is a man there to ‘save her’. The boy may grow up thinking that he has to be the strong super hero and the only kinds of women he may be attracted to are those that are not strong willed and constantly need a man as a crutch.
I think Tyler is right in saying this picture symbolizes the glass slipper effect. From a very early age Disney movies show us that there is always a prince charming and that no matter how strong and independent a woman may seem she will always need to be rescued by prince charming.
I think this picture is a perfect example of what we learn as children. As a child I used to watch Disney movies and in most of those movies a male character would always save a female from any type of danger you could imagine. The male character is always strong and independent where the female character is always weak and dependent. So growing up, it makes children think that a women will always needs a man.
The glass slipper effect is a great point to portray in a picture. Many women today still feel the need for a man to save them and take care of them. As shown in the photo, this thinking start at a young age as seen in many Disney movies and other cartoons where the woman needs a man to save her. This photo also shows by the coustomes that having a man save you will make you feel more like a princess and hes is you prince charming. I really like this picture and thought the author did a great job explaining it.
I believe in the glass slipper effect. And I also believe that it will continue until parents raise their little girls to be independent. I’m not disrespecting women, but I believe it would make a big difference in relationships if they gave more to them. Not saying that it’s right, but from my personal experiences, I believe men cheat on females because they act helpless and keep “wanting” from him and he feels like he’s not giving enough. So he leaves or stays and cheats. Men aren’t perfect, but I believe divorces and relationships would so much better if women didn’t act helpless.
Tyler did a great job with this photo! Even a such a young age, girls play the part of being weak. Girls need to learn that they are strong, and they do not need ti be rescued.
