Growing up fast
From Erica
This is Kate; she's 10 years old and already influenced by the media of how a girl should look. Growing up playing with dolls, and play kitchens. She started using make-up the day should understood what it was. You can tell in this photo she's going from 10 to 25 in a short period of time.

This photo depicts a quickly growing trend among young girls today. Girls today tend to believe that to be beautiful, one must look more like a woman. This includes being voluptuous, wearaing makeup, and your hair and nails done. Although many young girls do not embody a young girl trying to be older than they are, but they are usually held back from doing so by their parents. The young girl in this photo is ten years old and has her hair and make up done making her look much older than she is. She is also standing with her weight to one side in a vulnerable pose that we see many models in today. This young girl is able to dress and pose in seductive ways because she learned it all from the media. The media exposes today's children to women that are seen as "ideal" and young girls wish to look like that even though they are not yet developed or mature enough to embody this image that they so often see.
This photo demonstrates how younger and younger girls become affected by the images they see in the media today. High heels and sexy dresses are supposed to illustrate beauty and attractiveness. This girl is way too young to be dressing this way or to even be thinking about how she looks or wearing heels. Although she shouldn't be, she is completely affected by the media and what we consider attractive.
May I say first that Kate is a very pretty young lady. It’s wretched knowing that children fascinate themselves with this “sexy body expression” they absorb so thoroughly through the media. She’s got every aspect down; the dress, the pose, the shoes, the earrings, the hair and the makeup, all at an extremely young age. She is most definitely “growing up fast”.
